History
Nordfyns Højskole is the old village school in Harritslev parish. The old buildings were first turned into a folk high school, when an ambitious Japanese man, with the name of Chiba, came to Denmark with a dream of creating a diverse folk high school in the idyllic nature of northern Fyn. Since then many students have wandered the area, and the folk high school has seriously left its mark on the history of northern Fyn. The fascinating area around Nordfyns Højskole has many exciting elements if you know where to look. With a scenery of beautiful mansions, old windmills and mysterious burial mounds the history of northern Fyn is very visible wherever you look. Northern Fyn's unique experiences

The sea eagle is increasingly returning to Denmark after its extinction, and there are more and more registered every year. It is still extremely rare though, and only a handful on the folk high school have ever seen the sea eagle, but it lives in the district of northern Fyn, so if you are lucky you might see it.

A real remain from the viking age is located really close to the folk high school. We are talking about Glavendrupstenen which you can find in Glavendruplunden. The stone is raised about year 900 by Ragnhild, and has Denmark's longest rune inscription which contains the secret of why the stone is raised. If you want to find out why the stone is raised in a shipwreck of 60m long and 12m wide, then you should go and explore the area of Glavendruplunden.

The Kattegat's living tides invite you to a unique nature-experience, after two kilometers of hiking through the sea you come to the deserted island, Æbelø. The island has been protected for many years, so there is a guarantee of a completely unique nature-experience, where you get really close to the unaffected nature. You can e.g. see fallow deer and mouflons, which live freely on the island. If you take a walk along the coastline, you get an experience of the passage of time, as you can see large old beech trees, which have fallen with the erosion of the dunes. Æbelø thus provides a unique experience that gives reason to think about life's big questions.

Experience Kattegat's many faces
Bogense beach
The sea from Bogense can be used for many things. You can e.g. take your fishing rod over your shoulder and see if you can catch dinner. Or you can jump in a pair of short swimming shorts and try your hand at the waves of the sea. There is also a good opportunity to go in one with the sea and explore the biodiversity of the seabed with a pair of diving goggles. However, you are not required to be in the water if you are approaching the beach, so if you are not the big swimmer, then you can also just go for a walk along the shoreline. On your trip you can find countless varieties of stones, which have been brought to the Danish coastline by the ice age, and if you are lucky you may find a piece of amber between the old ancient stones. The sea and the beach you find near Nordfyns Højskole have a lot to offer, and you can choose whether you want to use it as a playground or as a meditative free space.
